“Easy to know that diamonds are precious. Good to learn that rubies have depth. But more to see that pebbles are miraculous.”
- Josef Albers

Blood & Stones is a small, simple film about small, simple things. The plot centres around the relationship of a young couple but my interest is as much in the pebbles themselves. The minimalist story is matched by minimalist methods: a virtually zero budget film shot entirely on one 50mm lens and in available lighting. The main influences included Bill Douglas, Camus, and A.A Milne. I wanted to created a film that had a similar feeling, structure and characterisation as a Winnie The Pooh story, but with more adult themes.
